From past studies of African Indigenous Communication Systems, we notice ambiguity which is associated with the manner in which indigenous communication systems were discussed. For example, scholars like Dobb (1961) and Wilson (1987) are found wanting because they mixed-up traditional communication systems with exogenous ones like radio and television, and hence they could not adequately identify or distinguish the boundary between traditional communication systems with modern mass media.
